Does the use of OEM-compatible cartridges void the printer warranty?
 

Using OEM-compatible—new or remanufactured—quality printer, copier, and fax, cartridges does not void original manufacturer warranty.

Consumers who purchase OEM-compatible cartridges are sometimes under the false impression that using OEM-compatible cartridges will “void the warranty”, with the implication that only the original printer manufacturer’s own brand may be used. This is simply and absolutely untrue.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, an original equipment manufacturer may not make its printer warranty conditional on the use of any quality aftermarket accessory unless the manufacturer provides the system free of charge or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has specifically published that only the original manufacturer’s product may be used.

For your convenience, High IQ has reprinted below the relevant section of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act:

Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties 15 § 2302
Prohibitions on conditions for written or implied warranty; waiver by commission

 
"(c) No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service ( other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the commission if -

(1) the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and

(2) the commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest. "

In the event of a refund, shipping charges are non-refundable.

Please note that after the first 30 days from the date of purchase, we can exchange a product in the event of a defective product but no refunds can be processed.

Return Policy

1 “Date of Purchase” is the date of transaction, as noted on your order confirmation from High IQ.

Completing the exchange or refund process is easy. Simply email return@getHighIQ.com requesting a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and include in the body of your message your Customer ID#, Order Number, cartridge code number, your contact information, and a brief description of the defect experienced (if applicable). Please note that we cannot process exchanges or refunds without an RMA and cannot issue RMA’s over the phone. Upon receipt of your message, a High IQ technical services professional will contact you to issue the RMA and finalize the process.

Cancellation Policy

Please submit any cancellations via email to CancelOrder@getHighIQ.com. Your message must contain the following: Customer ID#, Order Number, cartridge code number, and your contact information. This information must be identical to the information originally submitted on your order. Please provide contact information so that we may contact you if we have questions in regards to canceling your order. Please note that an order cannot be cancelled by phone.
 
Every effort will be made to accommodate the cancellation of your order, provided your order has not been shipped out. If the cancellation was documented as received after the order was shipped, you will have to follow our Return Policy.
